Dr Sulaiman Yusof is a Senior Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Singapore with over 15 years of focused experience in colorectal and general surgery. He manages both common and complex colorectal conditions and is widely recognised for expertise in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery.
He treats a broad range of colorectal conditions including hemorrhoids (piles), anal fistula, colorectal cancer, colon polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and functional bowel disorders. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and focuses on minimally invasive surgical approaches designed to reduce pain, shorten recovery time, and improve long term outcomes.
Dr Sulaiman Yusof is a recognised robotic colorectal surgery specialist in Singapore. He received advanced training in robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Xi system and is listed on the official Da Vinci Xi surgeon locator. He has performed a high volume of laparoscopic and robotic colorectal procedures, including complex colorectal cancer resections. These techniques support smaller incisions, lower complication rates, shorter hospital stays, and faster return to daily activities.
He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2002 and completed his house officer and basic surgical training in the United Kingdom. He returned to Singapore for Advanced Surgical Training at Changi General Hospital and obtained the Joint Specialty Fellowship in General Surgery in 2013.
Dr Sulaiman Yusof pursued subspecialty training in colorectal surgery and received the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Award. He completed an advanced colorectal cancer fellowship at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, a leading international cancer institution. During this fellowship, he gained extensive experience managing advanced and complex colorectal cancers within multidisciplinary teams.
After returning to Singapore, he played a key role in advancing laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery services. He served as Director of Endoscopy and held multiple leadership and educational appointments within his department.
Dr Sulaiman Yusof remains deeply committed to medical education. He taught undergraduate medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and Duke NUS Medical School. He held the academic position of Adjunct Associate Professor and received multiple awards for excellence in teaching, including the Dean’s Honor Roll. He has authored peer reviewed journal articles in colorectal surgery.
Patients value his clear communication, careful assessment, and consistent surgical outcomes. He has received multiple Singapore Health Quality Service Awards, culminating in the Star Award in 2023.
